This portrait is a variation on the large portrait painted by František Ženíšek in 1893. Unlike the older version, the emperor is portrayed in half-length and his features differ in a few small details. Signed and dated by the artist on the bottom right. The frame for the portrait was purchased in 1904 and originally hung in Auersperg Palace in Prague.
